WHO WE ARE

ABOUT US

THE AUSTRALIAN-SYRIAN CHARITY

The ASC members and supporters come together to help empower and build the capacity of newly arrived families of Syrian refugees to settle in Australia. We seek to help these families rebuild their lives, restore their dignity and hope and help them become self-sufficient. In turn, this will allow them to live with respect, take opportunities that are available to them, feel a sense of belonging, contribute to Australian society and make them proud to be Australian.

Contributions to the Australian-Syrian charity will help to lift people out of poverty, help them to stay healthy, live free of violence, combine their experiences of Syrian and Australian cultures successfully and find rewarding employment.

We also assist and support vulnerable refugees and newly arrived families, who were displaced both within Syria and in other countries. We co-operate with other organisations in Australia and provide a crucial link to those seeking medical, mental health, financial and social assistance, especially for the children.

Vision

The ASC's vision is for an Australian-Syrian community in Australia to be strong, well-connected and successful by empowering Syrians, refugees and newly arrived families with educational and employment strategies.

Mission

To offer the best possible support for the Australian-Syrian community, and others in similar need, to ensure they are living a fulfilling, well-informed life in Australia.

To support the individuals and families of the Australian-Syrian community and others in similar need, and to overcome barriers that can block their ability to join the Australian community.

To legally support our families still in Syria, ensuring we are giving some financial, medical and moral support to overcome the horrific effects of the war.

To raise awareness within the Australian Community about the need to support Syrian Christian refugees.

ACKNOWLEDGEMENT OF COUNTRY

We acknowledge the Traditional Owners of country throughout Australia and recognise their continuing connection to land, waters and culture. We pay our respects to their Elders past, present and emerging.
